1. You can start with the texts and images from your manual (On Target, p.14-15 p14_15) about Steve Jobs.
Work on the questions they ask, have a look at the vocabulary from the toolbox.
=> heroes as personifying certain values or dreams.
=> Steve Jobs as a self-made man, the embodiement of the American Dream.
If you want to go further along the idea of embodying the American Dream, you can start with Mount Rushmore and the Declaration of Independance :
CE – Founding Fathers (extract from the Declaration)
and then move on to Martin Luther King :

and even Barack Obama :

You can therefore focus on how different “heroes” can embody the evolution of a set of ideas and ideals and analyse it.
2. You can use other examples that you know of, like Rosa Parks, if you want to use this eulogy : analyse how she is described and presented, how Oprah Winfrey talks about her and refers to her, and the mere fact that Oprah Winfrey does the eulogy.
4. Some think that our need for heroes is evolving : we do not need today the same heroes as yesterday – why ?
You can try to think of other examples than Superman. [have a look at the contents of Question 4]
Sometimes the way the hero himself is depicted evolves through time : compare older movies of Batman to the “Dark Night” series for example.
